The Pacific Cup Village, a week of festivities, seminars, and logistic support before the 2016 Pacific Cup race, opens at Richmond Yacht Club on July 5 and runs through July 11. The Village, a partnership between the Pacific Yacht Club (PCYC) and the Richmond Yacht Club (RYC), was created to promote the friendly socializing for which the “Fun Race to Hawaii” is famous and to assist competitors with last minute preparations. Staffed by a village of volunteers, the event is open to the racers, their families, friends and the general public.

Surely you’ve seen the lovely lei in photos that greet some of the Pacific Cup finishers. You can order them here. Perhaps your yacht has received one in races past. In the excitement of the arrivals you may have not noticed how this happens or how they are made.

Pt. Richmond, CA, June 22, 2016 – Fathers, sons, brothers. Husbands and wives. Old friends and new crew. The two double handed divisions in the Pacific Cup always contain some of the most interesting human dynamics – and some of the most varied vessels. In the 2016 race, 15 of the 67 entries will be racing double handed, the most of any Hawaii race. The Kolea Division is named for the Pacific Golden Plover, a small but mighty bird that migrates over 3,000 miles between Hawaii and Alaska without stopping to rest or feed. Like the Kolea, the well-sailed boats in this

From the super maxi Rio 100, to the double handed Moore 24s

Few questions engage our entrants more urgently than "when is our start?" and "who is in my division?"  These questions often are not answered until shortly before the race because it takes that long for the entry list to be stable and ratings to arrive. Working late hours, our committee has completed the division assignment task for 2016. We notified our participants of assignments on June 9.

We're considering ourselves very fortunate to have a great and diverse group of entrants.  See the complete list of entrants, start times, and divisions here.
