NOR Updates -- Bill Lee Trophy -- Time to Update Info -- Second Fee Due -- Seminar Materials

NOR UPDATES

Two NOR updates have just been issued. They can be found, along with a link to a FAQ sheet, on our Documents page.

The first is the ratings addendum. As in the past, faster boats will race under ORR and slower will race under Certified Downwind PHRF. To be eligible for overall, monohulls must have been measured, and the C-PHRF value will be used to determine the overall winner. Included in the notice is the wind matrix that will be used to derive the ORR rating for Pac Cup, as well as the application of the Pacific Swell Factor. These are discussed in greater detail, including advice on how to get your rating, on the race documents page.

The second is a pair of minor amendments to the Pacific Cup Equipment List: (a) a clarification that the SSB receiver must be able to be powered by the boats electrical system and (b) a removal of the incorrect suggestion that certain VHF cable was suitable for specified lengths. Discussions of these changes can be found in the interactive PECL here. (This document conveniently combines the underlying USSailing SER with our rules). Entrants will have a customized updatable checklist available on their boat's information page.

The tech committee is preparing a guide to getting and submitting a rating certificate.  That should be posted on the documents page shortly.

Bill Lee Trophy

The board has agreed on a new trophy: the Bill Lee "Wizard" Perpetual Trophy for the Best Corrected Performance by a Bill Lee Designed Boat. Like our Schumacher trophy, this trophy celebrates the contribution of a great designer and encourages entry by and competition between some of the most "fast is fun" boats on the water.  There'll be more information about this in the next newsletter.

Update your Boat's Information

Well, if you have entered the race, it's time to start filling in the blanks. When you paid your entry fee, a skeleton form was created, just waiting for your boat's information, like usual location, spinnaker color, callsign and a number of other items. You can visit the entry management page (link), log in if needed, and fill in what information you can. We're particularly eager to get photos (high resolution) and your blog or website.

Fee coming up

Entrants! December 29 is be the due date for your second payment.  This one depends on your LOA and is calculated on the form. One boat has already paid! Legend has it that those who enter earliest tend to be among the better performers in the race.  Just sayin'. The form is here.

Seminar Materials

The slides presented at the October Seminars are available for your review online.  See them here.

Looking ahead.... We have seminars coming up, both required and optional, as well as plans underway for great festivities at each end of the race. These will be covered in the next general email.

Questions? Send an email to entries@paciiccup.org or post to the forum and we'll work to sort it all out.
