Pt. Richmond, CA, September 8, 2015 – The Pacific Cup Yacht Club (PCYC) has named Pasha Hawaii as the Official Yacht/Gear Transportation Company and Sponsor of the 2016 Pacific Cup Yacht Race. Sailed every other year since 1980, Pacific Cup sailors depart San Francisco Bay under the iconic Golden Gate Bridge for a 2070 nm race to beautiful Kaneohe Bay on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. With entrants from the US mainland and Hawaii as well as international locales, logistics support for shipping between California and Hawaii is key to the event’s success.
“We welcome the opportunity to, once again, provide enclosed capacity on our roll-on/roll-off vessels for these exciting and beautiful racing yachts,” said Michael Pasha, Director of Business Development of Pasha Hawaii. “Our experience with returning yachts from Hawaii includes entries in the 2013 and 2015 Transpac Races, as well as yachts that sailed in the 2014 Pacific Cup. It is our pleasure to provide services to 2016 Pacific Cup participants.”
Earlier this year, Pasha Hawaii introduced its newest vessel, M/V Marjorie C. Equipped with combination container and roll-on/roll-off features, the M/V Marjorie C joined the company’s M/V Jean Anne, doubling Pasha’s capacity to safely and efficiently transport large and small yachts on trailers returning to the mainland after the race’s finish in Honolulu. The Marjorie C’s wide 39 x 20 foot door opening can accommodate many boats without having to remove their rudders and keels, making commissioning and de-commissioning easier for most boats in the Pacific Cup fleet.
“This is an excellent opportunity for Pacific Cup entrants, and we are very pleased to be partnered with Pasha Hawaii, a family-owned business with strong ties to the sailing community,” said Gary Troxel, Commodore of PCYC. "For those participants looking for an alternative to a long sail home, Pasha Hawaii has now made it much more affordable to bring your boat home with less wear and tear, and should be considered by all our race entries in their logistics planning.”
