Venture, Michael Chobotov's Jeanneau 49, is the first boat to finish in the Holo Holo Cruising Division. Their track indicates that they sailed a great race, and word from the boat is that they flew their spinnaker as much as possible. They certainly looked good as they crossed the finish line. We think they should consider entering one of the racing divisions in 2016!
This is the first year the Pacific Cup has had a cruising division, opening the race to boats interested in the voyage but not the competitive racing. Holo Holo is Hawaiian slang for walking around and having fun, and this “joy ride” spirit permeated the cruisers’ start ─ but being a few minutes late doesn’t matter much on a 2070 mile race.
